Kuwait and Iraq have taken a significant step towards resolving their longstanding bilateral issues by forming a joint working team. This decision was made during a meeting between Kuwait’s Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al Hamad Al Sabah and Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al Zaidi, held on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
The primary objective of the joint team is to review unresolved matters between the two nations and develop a roadmap for their resolution. The team is expected to submit its recommendations to the leadership of both countries within a 30-day timeframe. Meetings will be conducted alternately in Kuwait and Baghdad, continuing until the team’s mandate is completed.
Both Kuwait and Iraq have expressed their support for this initiative, emphasizing their commitment to addressing outstanding issues. The move is seen as a step towards strengthening cooperation and partnership between the two neighboring countries.
