The third edition of a youth training initiative in Oman has successfully wrapped up, concentrating on electric vehicle technology and sustainable transportation. Known as the “Electric Vehicle Experts” (EV-Pro) programme, this session ran from July 19 to August 27 and included participation from 35 young men and women hailing from various universities and colleges across the country.
Throughout the programme, participants were immersed in training covering critical aspects of electric vehicles. This included understanding charging infrastructure, network planning, and vehicle maintenance and operations. Additionally, the curriculum highlighted the economic advantages of electric vehicles and their capacity to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions, aligning with global sustainability goals.
The workshops offered during the EV-Pro programme addressed environmental challenges and the principles of sustainability. Moreover, participants engaged with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, exploring ways to develop practical, locally relevant solutions to environmental issues. This hands-on approach aimed to equip young professionals with the knowledge necessary to drive sustainable practices within their communities.
This initiative is part of a broader strategy by Oman to advance sustainable transportation solutions and work towards achieving carbon neutrality by the year 2050. By focusing on education and practical training, the programme seeks to empower the next generation of leaders in the field of sustainable transport and environmental conservation.
