Sultan Haitham bin Tarik of Oman commenced a two-day state visit to Botswana, marking a significant step in enhancing bilateral relations. Upon his arrival at Sir Seretse Khama International Airport in Gaborone, the capital of Botswana, he was welcomed by President Duma Gideon Boko.
The formal reception included a 21-gun salute for the Sultan, who also inspected a guard of honor. The event was further enriched by a traditional Botswanan cultural performance, underscoring the warm ties between the two nations.
Following the welcoming ceremony, Sultan Haitham and President Boko proceeded to the Presidency Headquarters for further discussions. The visit is seen as a move to strengthen diplomatic and economic ties between Oman and Botswana.
High-ranking officials from both countries were present at the ceremony, and members of the Omani delegation accompanied the Sultan. This visit highlights the ongoing efforts to foster closer cooperation and understanding between the Middle Eastern and African nations.
